Dr. Omowumi Ibipeju Fabiyi
Omowumi I. Fabiyi holds a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, where she also completed her earlier academic training. She is a Food Microbiologist with expertise in food biotechnology, fermentation science, and microbial food safety. She has extensive experience in research, teaching, and laboratory analysis, and is passionate about translating scientific discoveries into practical food solutions. Her research focuses on combating food insecurity, malnutrition, and post-harvest losses through innovative biotechnological strategies and the valorization of underutilized agricultural resources in developing economies. Her work emphasizes sustainable food systems, industry collaboration, and public health improvement. She benefited from the WAAN-I mentorship programme organized by Alexander Humboldt Fellowship (2024 – 2026). She has contributed to peer-reviewed publications on lactic acid bacteria, functional foods, and natural preservation systems. She is a member of Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology.
